Vinyl application tape goes by many names including transfer tape, premask, and prespacing tape. Whatever name you use, it all functions the same. It picks up vinyl graphics off the backing paper and holds the graphics in position with the adhesive-side at the ready. Position, squeegee, and go.

Application tape functions slightly differently for cut vinyl graphics vs printed vinyl graphics. For cut graphics, the tape keeps all the bits and pieces in position with proper spacing. Instead of applying each letter or graphic individually, it allows you to apply one layer in one go. For printed graphics, application tape is used as abrasion protection or for stiffening. It protects prints against squeegee marks. It also adds body to large floppy panels, making them easier to handle and less likely to bunch up, wrinkle, and stick to unintended surfaces.
