Marabu® ClearShield® Classic liquid laminate protects graphics such as digital inkjet prints, airbrushed artwork, and traditional signage installations. With its specially formulated UV-inhibitors and HALS (hindered amine light stabilizers), this coating provides excellent protection against ultraviolet fading. Additionally, it resists chemicals, dirt contamination, and abrasion. This flexible, non-yellowing coating can be applied in different thicknesses for customized protection levels. ClearShield® Classic is suitable for most substrates including banners, vinyl, canvas, plastic, wood, metal, and fibreglass.

ClearShield® Classic is water-based, which has a few implications. Don't use it with water-based ink or water-sensitive substrates. Also, this is Canada, where winter temperatures are well-below freezing point. Should this product freeze, make sure to thaw it and mix it thoroughly before use. Lastly, it's water soluble. You can thin it with water as well as clean up with water.

Apply this clear coat with brushes or rollers.

The Classic formulation is thicker than the Select formulation. Higher viscosity provides a few advantages. First, you can apply this coating directly to vertical surfaces. Thinner products must be applied on a horizontal surface and be mounted vertically after curing. However, that process is impossible in some situations. Second, a thicker product provides a more concentrated solution. Many people water it down because they find that a lower viscosity is easier to apply. A high viscosity formula saves you from paying for water when you can get it for free.
