Marabu® ClearShield® Select is new and improved version of ClearShield® Classic. Select is based on an updated polymer technology for improved performance. It is more flexible, has better UV protection, is compatible with a wider range of inks and substrates, and has stronger abrasion resistance.
Although liquid laminates can replace film laminates, they are best used in situations where films don't work. Think canvas, banner material, roll up display films, and other textured surfaces.
ClearShield® Select can be applied by hand with rollers, brushes, and spray guns, as well as with automated laminators. Select is self-leveling. This means you don't have to apply a perfectly smooth coat - the product will smooth out on its own during the curing process. When applying with a roller or brush, Marabu recommends a two-coat application process. A thick first layer with an over-saturated applicator, followed immediately (no time to dry or cure) by thin second layer.
A note about matte finish: make sure to stir or shake the product before use. The matting agent tends to sink to the bottom.
ClearShield® Select is water-based, which has a few implications. Don't use it with water-based ink or water-sensitive substrates. Also, this is Canada, where winter temperatures are well-below freezing. Should this product freeze, make sure to thaw it and mix it thoroughly before use. Lastly, it's water soluble. You can thin it with water as well as clean it up with water.
